Michael Field
Forgotten Cinema: Palmetto

The Mikes are talking hot Florida days, overly sexual femme fatales, and a dumb (but maybe smart?) journalist in way over his head in Palmetto, starring Woody Harrelson, Elisabeth Shue, Gina Gershon, Chloë Sevingy and Michael Rapaport.
Listen as Mike Butler and Mike Field talk about this flawed 1998 noir. Butler has issues with many of the glaring mistakes done during the crime and the ineptitude of the characters to an almost Naked Gun degree whilst not being an actual spoof. Field discusses the ways in which the film highlights the staples of a noir film and adds its own uniqueness in its hot, rainy Florida setting, but loses itself in story threads that just don't make sense or are too glaringly obvious for characters to ignore.
Field and Butler also try to get to the bottom of their own mystery...Who chose Palmetto for the cast and why?
So grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits to the left and right of you, and settle down for Forgotten Cinema.
