Forgotten Cinema: D.O.A. (1988)
The Mikes have been poisoned, and now they have only 24 hours to watch and do a podcast episode on 1988's D.O.A starring Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan, Daniel Stern and Charlotte Rampling.
Well, maybe they weren't poisoned, but Dexter Cornell (Quaid) was; and Mike Butler and Mike Field are still going to talk about it on this episode of Forgotten Cinema!
Listen in as the Mikes discuss the relationship between Cornell and his student Sydney Fuller (Ryan), the way the color was slowly drained from the film, as well as the bookending the film in black and white. In a shocking change of pace, this time it is Field who defends the film from Butler's issues with unnecessary story elements, a lack of cohesion, and poorly fleshed out characters.
So grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits at the front and rear of the auditorium, and settle down for Forgotten Cinema.
